The winners of the XXXIII International Festival of Modern Choreography have been announced in Vitebsk. The Grand Prix goes to Tyumen, while the first and second prizes were shared by two collectives each. The award ceremony for the laureates took place today at the forum's closing concert.
The festival's Grand Prix was awarded to the "Prospekt" dance theatre from Tyumen for their work "Every action breeds a counteraction". When presenting the awards, the chairman of the jury, Honoured Artist of Russia, principal dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre, and chief ballet master of the National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus, Igor Kolb, noted that he personally tried to experience all the stories presented by the participants.
The project by Evgenia Nikolaichuk from Minsk and the Mogilev folk choreography ensemble "Alesya" shared the first prize. The second prize was awarded to the Tula collective - the "NIKA dance company" and the project by Denis Chernyshov from Chelyabinsk. The Minsk dance theatre "Altana" was awarded the third prize of the international competition of modern choreography.
Several collectives received special IFMC awards. In particular, the special Evgeny Panfilov prize went to Valentin Isakov's project "X-perIments" and the N.F. Sokolovsky Gomel State College of Arts. The "Perspective" special prize was awarded to the choreography department ensemble of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. The contemporary dance troupe "Samruk" from Almaty was awarded the special prize "For stylistic diversity in the repertoire". The Yekaterinburg dance company "Dennitsa" was separately awarded a special prize "For the use of folk root culture in contemporary dance".
The International Festival of Modern Choreography IFMC was held in Vitebsk from November 23 to 27.
