In Vitebsk, the winner of the regional stage of the republican competition "Student of the Year" has been determined

He became Vladislav Ugolev, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics of VSTU.

– Our country has created all the conditions for supporting and self-realisation of youth, – emphasised Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee. – For every person, the student years are the most unforgettable time, filled with discoveries, impressions, and achievements. Events like "Student of the Year" not only give young people an opportunity to make themselves known, but also allow us to see talented, bright, ambitious young people, those who only move forward! The emotions that the participants will experience today, they will carry through their whole lives.

The venue for the competition was Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. 13 participants from 6 universities of the region competed for the title of the best student of the Vitebsk region and the right to represent the northern region in the final. All of them excel in their studies and can boast achievements in science, creativity, sports, and much more.

Three students represented Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk. Among them were Polina Khrol, a third-year student of the Faculty of Finance and Economics, a participant in the regional governor's ball in 2022, laureate of the annual special prize "Krynitsa Vedau" in the nomination "Talent of the Year" as part of the "Konferans" hosts, as well as Nikita Mironovich, a student of the Faculty of Law, member of the student council of the Faculty of Law, participant of the "Konferans" student hosts club, and Denis Atrokhov, a student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electronics, a recipient of a personal university scholarship.

From Vitebsk State Technological University – Vladislav Ugolev and Kirill Ogurchenok, 3rd-year students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics, who are laureates and prize-winners of various international competitions and festivals, such as: "Global Asia" in Beijing, "Musical Express-2021" (Rostov-on-Don), Moscow's "For a Dream", "Dream with Musicatoff", and others.

Milana Alekseeva, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, winner of the literary competition of the military-patriotic club, represented Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University. The student has scientific publications on cardiology, public health and healthcare, and other achievements.

Four contestants represented the P. Masherov Vitebsk State University. Anastasia Shugaley, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Law, is the winner of the republican video contest "Legal Workshop – 2023" in the nomination "Passport is Important!", and the winner of the university contest of grace and artistic skill "Miss VSU-2023". Student of the Faculty of Pedagogy Anna Perkhalskaya also has many victories to her name. Among them are the V International Dance Project Dream Dance Fest, and the national festival-competition of youth creativity in the Vitebsk region "Fire of Youth Talents". Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies Alexey Perkhalsky and Alexandra Kolkova also performed from the same university.

Victoria Romanovets, a 2nd-year student, and Alexandra Shapurva participated from the Vitebsk Order of Honour State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. The young women are active participants in various university projects and contests.

Veronika Yukhnovets represented the Vitebsk branch of the "MITSO" International University. The student of the Faculty of Humanities is a 1st degree laureate of the vocal international contest "Golden Lyre", a 1st degree laureate of the international contest "Zvezdopad", and others.

For several hours, the students competed in various challenges – a presentation, an oratory skills contest, where they spoke about their future profession, and a creative tour, where they presented themselves and demonstrated their talents.

According to the results of the contest, 2nd place was shared by Anastasia Shugaley and Alexey Perkhalsky, 3rd place – by Veronika Yukhnovets and Kirill Ogurchenok. The winners of the regional stage will represent the Vitebsk region in the final of the republican contest.
