The first bicycle traffic light in the Vitebsk region has been installed in the regional centre, BELTA was informed by the Department of State Automobile Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The bicycle traffic light is installed near house No. 8 on Pobedy Avenue. "If the green signal is lit on the bicycle traffic light, then a cyclist or a personal mobility device (PMD) operator can cross the roadway without dismounting," the department emphasized.
In addition, special signs for cyclists and persons operating PMDs to cross the roadway without dismounting have been installed on Starobabinovichsky Trakt, Lenina Street (near the Town Hall and the regional library), Bogatyreva Street (near house No. 6), and on Chernyakhovsky Avenue near the Vitebsk State College of Electronics.
Very soon, bicycle traffic lights and special signs will appear in Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk.
