On August 29, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. For three days, Vitebsk will be "liquidating emergencies at enterprises and localizing outbreaks of particularly dangerous infections": today, a comprehensive exercise on "Actions of Management Bodies, Emergency Rescue Service and Civil Defence Forces in case of threat and occurrence of emergencies in peacetime and wartime" begins in the city, the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department informed a BELTA correspondent. The exercise zone will cover the entire city territory, and representatives of about 50 enterprises, organizations, and departments of the regional center will take direct part in it. Duty forces of the city, economic entities, and object-based and territorial civil defense formations will also be involved. Practical measures they will have to perform include the deployment of radiation and chemical observation posts; checking the readiness of loading and unloading teams for the delivery of personal protective equipment, deployment of their distribution points for personnel from the reserves of economic entities; preparation of protective structures for receiving persons to be sheltered; deployment of a mobile repair and recovery group, a mobile catering unit, a vehicle decontamination station, and a mobile command post. During the exercise, a tactical special training session on localizing and eliminating an outbreak of a particularly dangerous infection and its consequences will be held. The exercise is designed to verify the feasibility of the civil defense (CD) plan for the protection of the population and territory of the city, the plans for the prevention and elimination of emergencies, and the CD plans of economic entities; to practically work out the actions of the emergency commission under the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, the city's emergency management bodies, and economic entities in protecting working personnel and the population not engaged in production in case of emergencies in peacetime, and the actions of CD headquarters in wartime. The comprehensive exercise will conclude on August 31. The results of the event will be summarized on the same day. -0-
