A rally-requiem was held in Vitebsk in memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War.

A requiem rally, attended by representatives of regional and city authorities, clergy, law enforcement agencies, as well as veterans and youth, took place in Vitebsk on the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the 79th anniversary of the start of the most devastating war of the 20th century.

This date is a symbol of the courage of Soviet soldiers who were the first to meet the enemy on the border with Poland. The resilience of the people who survived the brown plague. The heroism of the private and the general, the nurse and the military doctor, the paratrooper, the tankman or the infantryman, the partisan and the civilian. Every third Belarusian was added to the sorrowful lists of the fallen. Every person experienced the hardships of the war years in those years.

Today, remembering the exploits of the entire nation and individual heroes, it is impossible not to note that all of them were committed in the name of the Motherland, its bright future. People who found themselves under fire craved one thing – peace: for themselves, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They fought the enemy for the sake of a clear sky, sparing no effort or their own lives.
