A private premiere of the film "My Friend the Giraffe" was held at the Vitebsk Town Hall, reports BELTA correspondent.

The translation and Belarusian dubbing of the film within the framework of the "Belarusian Weekends" project was carried out by the "Kinokong" team with the support of the velcom company. The film is based on the work of the Dutch fairy tale writer Annie Schmidt. For the first time in history, the preview of the film took place not in the capital, but in Vitebsk.

"Our project has been running for a year and a half, and we try to have a premiere every month. We also strive to translate and dub films for both adult audiences and children. Nevertheless, the focus of our work is on children, so that they hear the Belarusian language, and it will be easier for them to learn our literature and language at school in the future. According to parents' feedback, our project helps them with this. In addition, the film "My Friend the Giraffe" is timed to coincide with Knowledge Day, and it will be shown in cinemas across the country from August 30," said Andrey Kim, head of the "Belarusian Weekends" project.

Actor Sergey Zhbankov, who voiced the giraffe, is originally from Vitebsk. He came to the premiere with his daughter and said that he was pleased to work in a new role. "Voicing a film has been my childhood dream. And the fact that such an opportunity arose, and even in my native language, is a great pleasure for me. I liked how the actor voiced the giraffe's role in the original, and I tried to capture his mood," shared Sergey Zhbankov.

"My Friend the Giraffe" is a story about the strong friendship between a boy and a talking giraffe named Raf. The main character of the film, Dikeche Dap, is a future first-grader. He and Raf are inseparable, and to maintain their friendship, they will have to solve a number of issues. By the way, the giraffe in the film is not computer graphics, but a robot specially created for the film.
