The Vitebsk Concert Hall hosted over a thousand education sector employees from across the Vitebsk region. The traditional regional August conference, held on the eve of the new academic year, reviewed the results of the past academic year, set tasks for the future, and facilitated the sharing of opinions and experiences.

Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Regional Executive Committee, emphasized that the next five-year period in Belarus will be dedicated to quality, starting with the Year of Improvement, aimed at enhancing citizens' quality of life. He noted that investments in education yield long-term positive effects for the economy, health, and social stability. This year, two new kindergartens opened in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk, while construction continues in Vitebsk, Lepel, and Orsha. A family-type children's home is being built in Glubokoye.

"VV" Information. Over 92 million rubles have been allocated for major repairs and strengthening the material and technical base of educational institutions.

The head of the department highlighted the importance of ensuring safety in educational institutions, with 11 million rubles allocated for these purposes. He mentioned the delivery of 30 new school buses to update the fleet.

– We must ensure the safety of students in educational institutions based on a comprehensive approach, improve the technical equipment of educational institutions with modern security systems, ensure the quality and safety of student meals, and organize child transportation strictly in accordance with legislation, – stated Dmitry Khoma.

The upbringing of worthy citizens and patriots is a priority task. The head of the main department thanked all stakeholders for their systematic approach to the civic-patriotic and spiritual-moral education of youth.

– Work with society is coming to the forefront. In the new academic year, it is necessary to interact more actively with parents, – he concluded.

Alexander Subbotin, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, underscored the significance of the issues discussed at the conference, noting that the formation of a harmoniously developed individual and the training of qualified personnel for the economy are key directions of Belarus's state policy.

The head of the region noted that a solid legal framework has been created in the country for effective career guidance and vocational training. He urged educators to help children align their abilities with the needs of the labor market.

– It is important to remember that career guidance work should include fostering a respectful attitude towards labor, – he added. – Understanding the prospects for professional development is an important incentive for targeted training and retention of personnel in their first jobs.

Alexander Subbotin pointed out the need for more active fulfillment of the requests from regional universities for training applicants in engineering, zootechnics, and veterinary medicine specialties. The effectiveness of specialized classes should be an indicator of the quality of career guidance work in educational institutions.

– Parents, children, and educators should understand that selection for a specialized class is a statement of the student's professional intentions, – noted the head of the region. – The formal approach to the opening and functioning of such classes needs to be reviewed. At least 50% of graduates should enroll in their chosen field.

Introducing youth to labor is a strategic task that addresses not only employment issues but also the prevention of offenses. Alexander Subbotin noted the importance of involving adolescents who are registered with various services, from low-income and large families, in labor employment. He expressed satisfaction that this year it was possible to significantly increase the indicators of labor employment of minors in cooperation with the committee and departments for labor and social protection.

At the August conference, educators were thanked for their work, the achievements of their talented students were recognized, and certificates and commendations, as well as monetary certificates for improving the material and technical base of educational institutions, were awarded.
