The event is timed to coincide with the public holiday – the Day of National Unity, which the country celebrates on September 17. It was held in a new format, in the context of the Year of Historical Memory.

– It is very important that people of different ages gathered in the hall of the regional philharmonic society – schoolchildren, students, pensioners, those who once stood at the helm of our country, our region. The topic of the event is topical, the interest in it is unconditional, especially when there is an opportunity to hear historians, specialists who work in archives, obtain primary sources and can answer questions, including on problematic aspects of our history, convey information and give it the correct interpretation, – noted the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.

The speakers at the dialogue platform included the Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Society "Knowledge" Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives for Science, Education and Culture, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Igor Marzalyuk, the Rector of the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences Vyacheslav Danilovich.

One of the topics raised was the country's sovereignty.– Our President rightly says that this is a fundamental value for any people. It is easy to lose it, but very difficult to restore or preserve it, – emphasized Vyacheslav Danilovich. – The fact that the Republic of Belarus has existed as a sovereign state for 30 years indicates that the potential for statehood in our people is very strong, and we are able to ensure the development of our sovereign state.
