The VIII reporting and election conference of the regional trade union association is being held in Vitebsk.

– The main priority of the state is the well-being of our people. Trade unions make a significant contribution to both socio-economic development, social partnership, and regional development. By interacting with the management of enterprises, they solve a wide range of issues, including occupational safety, protection of workers' rights and social guarantees, etc. In the Vitebsk region, the most massive public organisation unites over 370,000 people; it is a large and influential force that forms the basis of every institution, enterprise, and organisation, – noted Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.

– Trade unions have established themselves as active participants in civil society. We have now entered another electoral campaign, which will conclude the electoral period in accordance with the updated Constitution. Trade unions are actively involved in all stages of this work. We stand united, supporting the constructive course our country is pursuing, – noted Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies.

The event summed up the work of the past five years and outlined the direction for further development.
