Additional resources for agricultural development, stimulation of the population's economic activity, support for civic initiatives.
These issues were discussed at the eighth extraordinary session of the regional Council of Deputies of the 29th convocation.
– Harvesting is currently being completed, and the sowing campaign is underway, and to ensure their successful conduct, a number of budget adjustments are necessary, – noted the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, opening the meeting.
Deputies decided to allocate additional resources to the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee for land reclamation work to restore reclaimed lands in the amount of 3 million rubles, for subsidising the current activities of agricultural producers and the purchase of fuel and lubricants – 5 million rubles, and the same amount for the purchase of fuel. Part of the funds will be directed towards payment for a set of works on liming acidic soils.
Thanks to the adjustments, it is planned to fulfil the target indicators of the regional complex of measures for the implementation of the State Programme "Agrarian Business" for 2021–2025, and to successfully complete the harvesting and sowing campaigns.
Funds will also be sought for material support for citizens during job searching and for the organisation of temporary employment for about 500 minors during their free time from studies.
At the extraordinary session, the results of the preliminary review of civic initiative projects aimed at improving life in small towns and settlements were discussed. Deputies voted to forward socially significant projects to the Vitebsk Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies for their open competitive selection.
– The topic of implementing civic initiatives is quite topical, – noted the head of the regional parliamentary corps. – It is necessary to make maximum efforts to ensure that what is planned is completed by the end of the year. People need it. And new ideas for improving the population's lives should be put forward today in order to actively continue this useful work in 2025.

Approximately 30 thousand rubles are allocated for 2024 to finance civic initiatives from all regions of the Vitebsk region. Of the 23 projects, 17 can be implemented this year.
