The Belarus Cup in trampoline gymnastics started today in Vitebsk. Over 100 athletes from all regions of the country are participating in the competition.

As emphasized by Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, trampoline gymnastics is a signature sport for Vitebsk. The high results shown by the trainees of the trampoline gymnastics school are a source of pride not only for the region but for the entire country.

"Our athletes prove that nothing is impossible," said Dmitry Demidov. "They set high goals for themselves and achieve them. Victories of our compatriots at the Olympic Games and other major international competitions are a testament to this. A distinctive feature of the Belarus Cup is that it brings together both trampolinists who are taking their first steps in this sport and renowned athletes. I wish everyone high results, and I urge young trampolinists to follow the example of the champions. So that beginners, by observing the skilled athletes, understand that hard work helps to achieve great heights."

The head of the regional council of deputies also noted that trampoline gymnastics is a spectacular sport. After all, athletes, performing the most complex elements, challenge the laws of gravity with their skill.

During the grand opening ceremony, Dmitry Demidov presented certificates of honour of the Regional Council of Deputies to Olga Vlasova, head coach of the national trampoline gymnastics team, and Ivan Litvinovich, a two-time Olympic champion.

As reported by Svetlana Pashkovskaya, director of Vitebsk Children and Youth Sports School No. 1, the Belarus Cup is one of the main competitions in our country. Trampolinists are testing their new routines and more complex elements in preparation for international starts. By the way, the next stage of the World Cup will be held in Italy in April.

Ivan Melnikov, a two-time winner of the European Junior Championships, plans to perform a new routine at the Belarus Cup.

"Vitebsk offers excellent conditions for training and competitions – among the best in Europe," the Gomel resident told "VV". "I am aiming to be in the top three at the Belarus Cup; the competitive level here is high. I plan to perform four triple somersaults."
