The publication of the local history almanac "Vitsebski Sshytak" has resumed in Vitebsk, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The publication covers issues of history and culture of the Vitebsk region, little-known facts and sources on the material and spiritual culture of the region. The current fifth issue is dedicated to noble estates located in the region. Its presentation will take place today at the V.I. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library, with whose assistance the publication's release has been resumed. During a public lecture on the history of the regional centre within the framework of the "Vitsebsk: Regional and Popular History" project, the almanac's editor-in-chief, a well-known researcher of Vitebsk antiquities, Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, will introduce its new issue and talk about the secrets revealed within its pages.
Previously, the almanac was published in 1995-2000 in Belarusian with the support of private and non-profit organisations. A total of four issues were published, the founders of the first of which were the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore and the Vitebsk Regional Local History Association. The relevance of the journals published at that time has not lost its scientific significance to this day.
