The project is designed for young people aged 14 to 31 and includes a variety of activities aimed at more actively involving young Belarusians in the electoral process and engaging them in issues of public administration. As reported by the administration of the Pervomaysky District of Vitebsk, the "Youth Decides" programme is the most comprehensive. It features thematic meetings with representatives of political parties, the "I Choose My Future Myself" marathon, the "I Am a Citizen" flash mob among members of young voter clubs, business games, debates, creation of short films, video clips, electronic presentations, questionnaires, and much more.
Young people are society's main electoral reserve, reflects Valentin Radkevich, a project participant and organiser at Gymnasium No. 5 named after I.I. Lyudnikov in Vitebsk:
– According to statistics, every fourth potential voter is under 30 years old. This is something to consider when working with young people, explaining that going to the polls is not just a civic duty for each of us, but primarily an opportunity to contribute to our own future and the future of our country. It is important to discuss politics with young people in a language they understand. For example, yesterday our "Youth Decides" team supported the online challenge "Open the Mailbox". The message of the video, which anyone can join, is simple: go to the polls so that your tomorrow is in your own hands.
Ilya Kuznetsov, one of the main developers of the "Ready for Elections" quiz, which launched today, February 15th, shared details. The history teacher at Secondary School No. 12 in Vitebsk and, like Valentin Radkevich, a member of the Council of Working Youth under the administration of the Pervomaysky District of Vitebsk, said:
– The ten-question quiz on the electoral campaign can be completed on social media, particularly on the Telegram channel "PRO Pervomaysky". When compiling the quiz, the aim was to genuinely engage participants. The questions are not easily searchable online. To answer correctly, one needs to be knowledgeable about the topic. However, as a bonus, we offer the simplest question that everyone will surely answer: it is about the unified voting day – February 25th.
