Reconstruction of an underpass at the intersection of Stroiteley Avenue and P. Brovki Street is nearing completion in Vitebsk. This information is posted on the website of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, according to BELTA.
The underpass has five exits: two on opposite sides of P. Brovki Street and Stroiteley Avenue (towards "Vityaz" and "Lotos" enterprises, "Kenguru" shop, and the Gas Institute), and one exit to the tram stop. A storm water removal system, dewatering pumps have already been installed, and waterproofing works, installation of a new concrete base, passages, and sealing of all joints from the floor to the ceiling slabs have been carried out. Electricity has been supplied and connected. Interior finishing is 95% complete. The installation of a video surveillance system remains. Procurement of pavilions for installation at nearby bus stops is also underway.
The new facility is planned to be opened by the end of the year. It will be the fourth operational underpass in the city. Its commissioning will ensure pedestrian safety and increase traffic capacity on Stroiteley Avenue. The busy thoroughfare has long required relief. The general contractor for the works at the facility is the enterprise "Vitebskobselstroy", with funding from the regional budget.
The commissioning of the underpass is one of the measures of the complex for the development and reconstruction of Stroiteley Avenue in accordance with the General Development Plan of the regional centre. The latter also provides for the construction of a new transport artery 800 m long, which will connect Stroiteley Avenue with the Bilevo microdistrict. Its construction is 55% complete. Work on the second bridge crossing is currently being completed, and an overpass is being built for switching the main heat pipeline.
