The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, emphasised that the new rector faces a wide range of tasks to elevate the institution to a new level. These include restoring the prestige of the profession, practice-oriented training, career guidance, and the export of educational and scientific services. In just one month, the VSAVM will celebrate its 100th anniversary, which should be marked accordingly.
Alexander Subbotin wished Olga Gorlova wisdom in her decision-making and pledged full support.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food, under which the institution operates, will also assist the new rector. The head of the department, Anatoly Linevich, stressed that there is only one veterinary academy in Belarus and everything must be done to attract applicants. Students must also be instilled with a love for their country so that their first place of employment is in their homeland.
Olga Gorlova, a Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, is a graduate of the VSAVM. She worked as a veterinarian in a farm for two years after graduation. Subsequently, her supervisor, Anton Yatusevich, who was the rector at the time, invited her to join the teaching staff. She has held positions as an engineer in the research department, academic secretary, and vice-rector for academic affairs.
