In the Vitebsk region, over 4,000 people will receive financial assistance for the 75th anniversary of Victory.

In connection with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 30.12.2019 No. 491 "On rendering one-time financial assistance", from April 1 to May 1, one-time financial assistance is paid to veterans, participants of the Great Patriotic War and certain categories of citizens affected by the consequences of the war.

Financial assistance is paid through the labour, employment and social protection bodies of the region, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Security Committee.

A total of 4051 people in the Vitebsk region will receive financial assistance, with a total funding of 3.1 million rubles, including in the amount of:

1,700 rubles – 385 people (disabled persons and participants of the Great Patriotic War, persons involved in mine clearance operations);

900 rubles – 268 people (persons awarded orders and medals for selfless work and military service in the rear during the war, who worked at air defence facilities, front-line railway sections and enterprises in Leningrad during the blockade, and awarded the medal "For the Defence of Leningrad" and the badge "Resident of Blockaded Leningrad");

700 rubles – 3398 people (family members of those killed, deceased, missing in action during the war, former prisoners and disabled persons since childhood due to injuries related to combat operations during the Great Patriotic War or the consequences of military operations).

As of April 8, financial assistance has been paid to 3860 citizens, which is 95% of their total number.
