In the Vitebsk region, over 70 vehicles were added to the fleet of territorial subdivisions of the internal affairs department in 2023. This was reported to journalists by the Head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Andrey Lyubimov, as reported by BELTA.

"We received and acquired 73 vehicles last year. We are building 181 rental apartments for employees (construction of 27 apartments has been completed), and carried out major repairs of a number of territorial internal affairs bodies," he noted.

Rental housing under the state construction program is being built in Vitebsk, Orsha, Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Braslav, Glubokoye, Lepel, and Verkhnedvinsk. The majority of the apartments are in the regional centre itself. The internal affairs department also provided gratuitous assistance in the amount of Br160 thousand to strengthen the material and technical base of the Department of Financial Investigations and Combating Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Routine repairs were carried out in some buildings of the regional district internal affairs departments.

Speaking about the renewal of the material and technical base, the Head of the Internal Affairs Department noted that this work will continue in 2024. "We plan to acquire a large number of quadcopters for various types of video recording, including for road safety," said Andrey Lyubimov.

He also noted the effectiveness of using technical means in the work of law enforcement officers. Currently, 4586 video cameras are installed and functioning in the region, 4522 of which are connected to the republican public security monitoring system. With their help, 55 crimes were solved in the region last year, 28 wanted persons were identified, and 3 missing persons were found.
