The registered unemployment rate as of March 1, 2021, was 0.3 percent and has not changed compared to March 1, 2020.
In January – February 2021, 2.6 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment, of whom 1.7 thousand people were registered as unemployed.
Within the framework of the State Programme "Labour Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – February 2021:
· 1.7 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;
· 94 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labour market
· 389 people participated in paid public works
· 6 families of unemployed people were relocated to new places of residence and work
As of March 1, 2021, employers reported 6.8 thousand vacancies, which is 8.2 percent less than on March 1, 2020 (7.4 thousand) and almost 6 percent more than on January 1, 2021 (6.4 thousand). The demand for workers in blue-collar professions accounted for 61.9 percent of the total number of vacancies (on March 1, 2020 – 65.1 percent). In the Vitebsk region, there are 4.9 vacancies per unemployed person.
Of the total number of vacancies in the database, approximately 44 percent are jobs with a salary ranging from 500 to 800 Belarusian rubles, 10 percent are from 800 to 1000 Belarusian rubles, and over 5 percent are above 1000 Belarusian rubles.
The conducted monitoring showed that the salary level depends on the applicant's education and work experience. It should also be noted that about 28 percent of vacancies declared by employers are vacancies with a salary from 400 to 500 Belarusian rubles and do not require special education or work experience, i.e., they are unskilled.
The most in-demand professions for employers at present are: seamstress, car driver, woodcutter, bricklayer, tile setter, cook, carpenter, sales assistant, shoe assembler, turner, miller, and electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment. Among specialists and employees, there is a constant demand for accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, agronomists, paramedics, and foresters are in demand.
