The first display board has already been installed in Vitebsk at a stop on Lenina Street opposite the Philharmonic Hall. In the future, new display boards will appear at stops near the "Marko-City" business centre and the Vitebsk branch of "Belpochta" ("Белпочта") on Moskovsky Avenue. A total of 10 such devices are planned to be installed in the regional centre – in the central part of the city, near the railway stations and the Smolensk Market.
"The screen of the multimedia display board is divided into two parts: the upper part will feature advertisements, and the lower part will display information for passengers with the route name and estimated arrival time of transport. The schedule will include not only buses and trolleybuses but also minibuses. Similar display boards will appear at public transport stops in Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk. Issues regarding their installation are being addressed," noted Aleksey Dolgy.
The introduction of electronic display boards is an important step in the creation of a new automated system for the dispatch control of urban public transport in Vitebsk, built on a satellite navigation system managed by the dispatcher of the "Operator of Transport" enterprise. As part of an experimental project, buses, trolleybuses, and route taxis will be equipped with navigation terminals. GPS receivers will be installed in the vehicles, allowing for real-time tracking of the vehicle's location and route.
The next stage in the development of transport services in the region will be the creation of interactive stops. These will feature heated benches, two vandal-proof monitors, a video surveillance system, and an emergency communication system. Inside the pavilion, one monitor with a touchscreen will allow users to plan their required route. The second monitor will be used to display public transport arrival times. In the evening and at night, the stop will be illuminated with LED lighting.
