In the Vitebsk region, Br5.6 million has been allocated for the preparation and repair of machinery for the spring sowing campaign, the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

According to the latest data, 90% of tractors (about 6.1 thousand units), 85% of high-power tractors (over 1 thousand units), 80% of sowing units (591 units), and 86% of grain drills (282 units) are already ready for field work in the region. The most active pace of machinery preparation for field work is observed in Beshenkovichi, Lepel, and Polotsk districts for tractors, and in Glubokoye, Dubrovno, and Tolochin districts for high-power machinery. The region intends to complete this work entirely in the northern region by the first half of March.

This year, in the structure of sown areas in the Vitebsk region, cereals and legumes will occupy 417.4 thousand hectares, cruciferous crops - 110.8 thousand hectares, and flax - 15 thousand hectares. The total sown area for all agricultural crops will be 788.3 thousand hectares. Taking into account the sown winter cereals and winter rapeseed, and perennial grasses on arable land, it will be necessary to sow 400 thousand hectares of spring crops in the spring. The seed fund for cereals for spring sowing has been fully formed by agricultural organizations, and the accumulation of mineral fertilizers is underway.
