Today, after a long summer break, the main characters of the New Year's holidays will don their festive costumes and compete in skill at a contest held at the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth in Vitebsk, the institution informed BELTA correspondent. The regional stage of the republican review-competition of Ded Moroz and Snegurochka characters "Yolka-Fest - 2012" will bring together 12 pairs of fairy-tale characters representing Chashniki, Ushachi, Vitebsk, Tolochin, Senno, Glubokoe districts, Vitebsk and Polotsk. These are the winners of the zonal rounds of the competition. To defend their titles, they will have to pass a series of contests in Vitebsk, which include a parade (the appearance of Ded Moroz and Snegurochka showcasing their costumes), a plot-based game program, and a creative performance (dance, vocal, instrumental, etc.). Schoolchildren have been invited to the review-competition, and their emotions will also be one of the criteria for the jury members when selecting the best pair. Winners will be determined in two nominations: "Ded Moroz and Snegurochka of the Year" and "Best Plot-Based Game Program". In addition to other awards, they will represent the Vitebsk region at the national round of the competition, which will take place on December 14 at the National Center for Arts and Crafts of Children and Youth in Minsk. The review-competition is held with the aim of finding new creative methods and techniques in organizing and conducting traditional New Year's events, organizing meaningful leisure activities for children and youth, and exchanging work experience.
