In the Vitebsk region, rural residents showed the highest activity on the main voting day. This was announced today at a briefing by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Election Commission, Dmitry Khoma."Traditionally, residents of the rural districts of the region were the most active on election day. The leaders are Beshenkovichi, Dokshitsy, Dubrovno, Liozno, Rossono, and Tolochin districts, where voter turnout was 90% and above. A total of 702,577 people out of 849,610 registered voters participated in the voting. The overall turnout reached 82.69%. In Vitebsk, it was over 76%," stated Dmitry Khoma.
The Chairman of the Regional Election Commission emphasized that he is currently operating with preliminary voting results: "These are preliminary data. More accurate results will be determined after the protocols are received by the Vitebsk Regional Election Commission and the regional commission meeting is held."
According to him, the political campaign in the region proceeded calmly and at a high organizational level. All polling stations were thoroughly prepared, equipped with personal protective equipment, and all recommendations were followed. The peak of voter turnout occurred between 10:00 and 13:00. However, overall, people came to vote relatively evenly throughout the day.
Regarding citizens' inquiries, Dmitry Khoma noted that no significant violations were recorded. A large number of calls were from elderly people concerning the possibility of voting at home and from voters inquiring about exercising their civil right outside their place of residence. All these issues were resolved by the Regional Election Commission as they arose. There were also isolated attempts at provocation, which did not affect the work of the election commissions.
"Currently, the Regional Election Commission continues to work and accumulate information. The final meeting is planned for August 12," added Dmitry Khoma.
