Competitions in amateur ice fishing with a jig will be held on Lake Losvido in Gorodok District on February 10, the organisers told BELTA.
Residents and guests of Vitebsk Region are invited to participate in the competitions. The anglers' skills will be evaluated in various nominations, with about 20 prize-winning places provided for both men and women to compete for. Schoolchildren and students will also take part in the competitions.
The organisers are confident that the event will promote a careful attitude towards natural resources, a healthy lifestyle, and will also contribute to improving skills and perfecting fishing tackle techniques, as well as exchanging experience among anglers.
Winter fishing will be accompanied by mass sports and entertainment events in the coastal area of the reservoir, as well as tasting of hunting cuisine.
The organisers of the competitions are Vitebsk District Executive Committee, the Regional Marketing Centre, and Veles-88 LLC. The general partner is Vitebsk Radio Component Plant "Monolit" OJSC, the partner is Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm. Winter fishing is held with the support of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the regional organisational structure of the Belarusian Society of Fishermen and Hunters RGOO, the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President, and the regional organisation of OSVOD.
