In the Vitebsk region, almost 63% of residents have completed the full course of COVID-19 vaccination.

"64.7% of the region's residents have received the first dose of the anti-COVID vaccine, and 62.7% have received the second dose. Vaccination against COVID-19 is being carried out for children aged 12 to 17. 15.2% of the total number of this age group have received preventive vaccination," said the chief sanitary doctor of the region. 

He added that Sharkovshchyna, Chashniki, and Ushachi districts are among the leaders with a high vaccination rate. 

Vitebsk region is focusing on booster vaccinations, following the course that began in September 2021. This is revaccination, which is carried out no earlier than 6 months after the completed vaccination. "We are conducting extensive explanatory work on this issue. Medical professionals are contacting patients and reminding them of the need to come for a repeat vaccination course. A total of over 80,000 people in the region have undergone it," explained Vladimir Sinkevich. 

With the lifting of restrictions on movement in the Union State, the number of citizens seeking PCR tests has significantly decreased in the region, as the main flow of travelers was heading to the Russian Federation. However, COVID-19 tests remain mandatory for air travel and for visiting those far-abroad countries where a negative PCR test is required for entry. 

Vladimir Sinkevich also reminded about the need to observe non-specific preventive measures. It is important to adhere to respiratory etiquette, use protective masks where it is not possible to maintain a distance of 1.5 m, treat hands with antiseptic agents, and seek medical help at healthcare facilities if feeling unwell.
