According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, as of May 16, over 1.9 million hectares of spring crops have been sown in the country, which is 170 hectares less than last year. At the same time, the percentage of plan fulfillment is higher: it was 85% then, and 86.1% today. This is explained by the fact that the area for spring sowing was decided to be reduced in favour of winter crops.
It is also pleasing that four regions are ahead of the plan fulfillment rates compared to 2021. Brest Region is approaching the final mark first – 5.4 thousand hectares remain to be sown, while farmers can sow 6.33 thousand hectares per day. Currently, 98.6% of the plan has been fulfilled. In Vitebsk Region, 88.4% has been sown, in Gomel Region – 74%, in Grodno Region – 94.6%, in Minsk Region – 89.6%, in Mogilev Region – 70.2%.
With good weather, the country's farmers collectively sow over 50 thousand hectares per day, which is 2.27%.
The plan for sowing buckwheat in the country has been fulfilled by 37.5% (+12 compared to the 2021 figure). Brest Region has sown 73.2%, and Grodno Region – 70%. Both regions have doubled their sowing rates compared to last year.
A similar situation is observed with millet: the sowing plan has been fulfilled by 36.7%, including 62.6% in Brest Region (35.5% in 2021).
