"Traditional ceremonies will be held in all 370 general secondary education institutions of the region. Approximately 9.6 thousand students will graduate from 9th grade. Certificates of secondary education will be awarded to over 6.6 thousand students," the education department noted.
The number of graduates in the Vitebsk region has slightly decreased this year compared to 2017. "Last year, almost 9.8 thousand students received certificates of basic education, and about 6.8 thousand young people graduated from 11th grade. In total, in 2017, the last bell rang for 16.6 thousand teenagers. Nevertheless, in recent years, there has been a positive trend in the increase in the number of first-graders. We believe their number will continue to rise," the department emphasized.
A delegation from the Vitebsk region, comprising 100 top 11th-grade graduates, will participate in the national "Last Bell" festival in Minsk on May 30. This opportunity to represent the region in the capital will be given to young people who have achieved high results in their studies, Olympiads, intellectual competitions, and have excelled in sports, creative, and social activities. On the same day, high school students from the regional centre will gather at the Summer Amphitheatre for their annual celebratory concert organised by the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre.
From June 1 to 8, 9th and 11th-grade students will take their final exams, and on June 9, graduation ceremonies will be held in the region's educational institutions. The most successful and active students will be awarded medals, diplomas for academic achievement, as well as various prizes and gifts.
