This instruction was given today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its Chairman, Alexander Kosinets, to the heads of the regional departments of education, internal affairs, and prosecution, BELTA correspondent reports. "In the Vitebsk region, 2,478 children have been recognized as being in a socially dangerous situation. The family of each of them must be checked. If necessary, children should be removed, and the most stringent measures of responsibility should be taken against negligent parents," said Alexander Kosinets, instructing to conduct this monitoring within the next few days. "We should not have any emergencies involving children," the governor emphasized. He also noted the need to thoroughly examine the issue of safety in educational institutions of the region. On the eve of winter, the chairman of the regional executive committee also paid serious attention to the issue of fire safety. "79% of fires in our region occur due to smoking while intoxicated. At the same time, no significant measures are taken against these people afterwards, although the lives of their relatives and friends, and the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations responding to the scene, are endangered by these citizens. This situation must be changed," he believes. In general, the problem of the spread of drunkenness requires the closest attention of local authorities and all interested departments, the governor emphasized. At the same time, this issue remains particularly acute in rural areas and concerns the agro-industrial complex. According to the head of the region, this is largely due to shortcomings in preventive work and oversights by district executive committees. Alexander Kosinets demanded to establish strict discipline in production, develop specific measures to prevent drunkenness and reduce the production of cheap fruit and berry wines, and intensify the fight against moonshining. -0-
