26 October, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The number of fraudulent crimes is growing in the Vitebsk region, with law enforcement agencies remaining inactive. This was stated today at a personal reception of citizens by the President's Aide – Chief Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Nikolai Domashkevich, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. According to Nikolai Domashkevich, a whole series of fraudsters has emerged in the Vitebsk region, who extort money from citizens through their actions. People turn to the law enforcement system, and it remains inactive, exhibiting procrastination and bureaucracy. "Look, half of the issues raised at the reception concern the inaction of law enforcement agencies, one to one. Flourishing bureaucrats in uniform: one cancelled, another returned, this one suspended," stated Nikolai Domashkevich, emphasizing that issues concerning applications related to the protection of citizens' interests are, in some cases, not resolved for years. And the volume of these issues is constantly growing. The President's Aide recommended that representatives of law enforcement agencies reconsider their attitude towards people. "As long as you do not treat them as they deserve and as the honour of your uniform demands, and treat them poorly," he said. Nikolai Domashkevich also drew attention to the excessive credulity of citizens who fall into the clutches of fraudsters, regardless of their level of education and life experience. "Everyone wants to get more without doing anything. Scammers take advantage of this," he added. A total of about 30 residents of the region visited the personal reception of the President's Aide – Chief Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Nikolai Domashkevich, today. A significant portion of the issues concerned the activities of the police. Issues of assistance in employment, the work of land management services, the use of privatization vouchers "Imushchestvo" and other topics were raised. Nikolai Domashkevich provided all visitors with the necessary explanations and recommendations, and also instructed representatives of the relevant departments to address the raised problems. -0-
