In the Vitebsk region, a local fee for crossing the state border of Belarus by vehicles at border crossing points will be introduced from August 1. This is stipulated by the decision of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies dated June 29, 2021 No. 238, according to BELTA with reference to the National Legal Internet Portal.

This is stipulated by the decision of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies dated June 29, 2021 No. 238, according to BELTA with reference to the National Legal Internet Portal.
The fee will be introduced until January 1, 2023. Its rate will be 1 base unit (1 BU - Br29).
Vehicles carrying the following are exempt from paying the fee: representatives of state bodies in the performance of their official duties; foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving in Belarus at the invitation of state bodies, state organizations (confirmation documents are required); foreigners and stateless persons travelling with documents confirming the severity and degree of limitation of physical activity and participation of 75-100%, issued by the competent authorities of the state of citizenship or usual place of residence; persons leaving Belarus for medical treatment upon presentation of documents (or their copies) from the receiving medical organization or the Ministry of Health, or after receiving medical treatment, as well as accompanying persons.
Furthermore, foreign citizens and stateless persons for whom a visa-free regime of entry into and exit from our country is established in connection with the International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" are exempted from paying the fee, provided they have original or electronic tickets for the festival events at the Summer Amphitheatre or the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall.
Also exempted from payment are veterans of the Great Patriotic War, veterans of combat operations in the territory of other states, provided they have supporting documents issued by the competent authorities of Belarus, as well as persons accompanying disabled individuals; foreign citizens leaving after staying in sanatorium-resort and health improvement organizations of Belarus, provided they have supporting documents, and a number of other categories of citizens.
Previously, a local border crossing fee was introduced in the Gomel, Grodno, and Brest regions.
