The Vitebsk region reports the highest grain yield this year in the Verkhnedvinsk and Orsha districts, with yields of 38.4 centners per hectare and 37.2 centners per hectare, respectively, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
Farmers in Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk, Glubokoe, Gorodok, Dokshitsy, Dubrovno, Liozno, Miory, Polotsk, Postavy, Tolochin, Ushachi, Chashniki, Sharkovshchina, and Shumilino districts are harvesting over 30 centners per hectare. As of July 30, a total of 268.4 thousand tons of grain have been threshed in the region, with an average yield of 32.9 centners per hectare. 9.1 thousand tons have been harvested. Grain and pulse crops have been harvested from 81.6 thousand hectares, which constitutes 16.7% of the total area.
The harvesting campaign is progressing most actively in the Beshenkovichi (24.9% of areas harvested), Glubokoe (21.6%), Dokshitsy (22.6%), Lepel (20.4%), Chashniki (25.5%), Polotsk, and Senno (20.1% each) districts. The average daily harvesting rate for the region has reached almost 4%.
Furthermore, the winter rapeseed harvest is nearing completion in the region. Agricultural workers in Beshenkovichi, Glubokoe, Gorodok, Dokshitsy, Lepel, Postavy, Rossony, Senno, Ushachi, and Sharkovshchina districts have fully completed this task. A total of 49.8 thousand hectares, or 96% of the area, have been harvested. Approximately 83 thousand tons of seeds have been threshed, with an average yield of 16.6 centners per hectare.
