Agricultural producers in the region have commenced potato harvesting. This crop occupies 2.5 thousand hectares in the region, with approximately 10% of the areas already harvested. The average yield of tubers is around 395 centners per hectare. This is the highest figure in the country, where Belarusian potato growers, on average, harvest 327.5 centners per hectare. "The main potato fields in our region belong to the Tolochin Cannery. Approximately 900 hectares are allocated here for the 'second bread'. Harvesting began not long ago, and the current yield is 421 centners per hectare," the regional agricultural department clarified.
The grain harvest continues in the Vitebsk region. Over 87% of the areas have been harvested, yielding approximately 900 thousand tons of grain with an average yield of 31.8 centners per hectare. The grain growers of the Gluboksky district are closest to completion, having threshed about 96% of grain and leguminous crops. In the Senno district, 95% of the areas have been harvested, while in the Vitebsk, Orsha, and Chashniki districts, the figure is 94%.
The highest yields are recorded in the Orsha and Dubrovno districts, at 45.2 centners per hectare and 42.3 centners per hectare, respectively. Among the agricultural enterprises, the best results are achieved by the grain growers of the agricultural enterprise "Larinovka" in the Orsha district, with approximately 70 centners per hectare. High yields are also reported by the enterprises "Olgovskoye" and "Rudokovo," exceeding 65 centners per hectare.
The sowing of winter grain crops is underway in the region: machinery has covered about 7% of the areas allocated for these crops.
