Farmers in the Vitebsk region plan to complete the sowing of winter crops by September 25, as reported to journalists by Mikhail Pridibaylo, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, according to a BELTA correspondent.
According to information as of September 11, the work has been completed on 20% of the areas designated for winter sowing. "Currently, the weather conditions are favourable, so at this stage, the task is to accelerate the pace of sowing to complete it by September 25," noted Mikhail Pridibaylo. At the same time, farms are not experiencing problems with machinery, but there are difficulties with tractor driver personnel. These are mainly due to the need to simultaneously complete the harvesting of leguminous crops, which ripened unevenly this year. In addition, due to the late ripening of spring rapeseed, farms are still working in these fields, explained the chairman of the committee.
In total, farms in the Vitebsk region will have to sow winter crops on an area of 350 thousand hectares, of which about 250 thousand hectares are allocated for grain crops. -0-
