Until February 25, the V.I. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library, in conjunction with public libraries of the northern region, is holding the "Speak and Inspire" marathon dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.
As reported by the V.I. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library, for a whole week during the marathon, library visitors can expect a variety of inspiring events dedicated to the Belarusian language. These include campaigns, contests, quizzes, book presentations, meetings with authors, and literary and musical evenings, which will engage readers and allow them to experience the joy of communicating in their native language. The comprehensive programme includes approximately 240 events and over 190 exhibitions.
Libraries from all districts of the Vitebsk region will also participate in the #Віцебскіслоўнік (#VitebskDictionary) campaign. The idea is to present one or more Belarusian words that are associatively linked to a specific district or town, words that are brand-like and characterise a particular locality. Every day throughout the week, the @vitsebski_slounik Instagram account invites everyone to explore the Vitebsk region through words – Belarusian, unique, colourful, native, selected and illustrated with affection by the district libraries.
