From March 9 to April 25, 2020, a ban on pike fishing with all fishing gear is established in the Vitebsk region.

As reported by Vyacheslav Soldatov, Deputy Head of the State Control Department of the Vitebsk Regional Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora, it is also prohibited to be within 1 km of the shoreline of water bodies with this type of fish.

Pike fishing during the ban period entails a fine of 20 to 50 basic units, and being found with the fish – from 5 to 30 BU. In addition, for each extracted individual, the poacher is obliged to compensate for the damage caused to the environment in triple the amount – 9 BU.
