February 1, Vitebsk /BELTA correspondent/. In the Vitebsk region, based on the results of desk audits, the amount of additional tax payments to the budget exceeded Br34.2 million, which is 25.7% more than in 2019, the press service of the regional tax inspectorate informed a BELTA correspondent.

Desk audits remain the main tool for preventing and deterring offenses, which is what tax authorities focus on in their control activities. In total, in 2020, inspectorates sent more than 2.8 thousand notifications to business entities on voluntary adjustment of tax liabilities. In addition to additional payments to the budget after clarifying declarations, the amount of VAT subject to refund from the budget was also reduced by Br13.3 million. The main violations identified during desk audits using the automated information system "Invoice Accounting" were the unlawful deduction of VAT amounts and understatement of the VAT tax base.

In addition, in 2020, tax inspectorates, based on the results of monitoring, sent recommendations to 30 taxpayers to eliminate identified violations or shortcomings. Subsequently, five business entities were brought to administrative responsibility for non-compliance with recommendations, which was established during repeat monitoring.

In total, in 2020, the volume of budget revenues of the Vitebsk region controlled by the Ministry of Taxes and Duties exceeded Br1.9 billion, which is 2.8% more than in 2019. The most significant sources of revenue for the regional treasury remain personal income tax, which amounted to about Br577.5 million, or 30.2% of the total payments, as well as VAT - Br437 million (22.9%), excise taxes - Br333.9 million (17.5%), property taxes - Br134.5 million (7%), profit tax - Br120.3 million (6.3%), simplified taxation system tax - Br54.3 million (2.8%).
