In the Vitebsk region, the vaccination campaign for healthcare workers against coronavirus is proceeding at an active pace. This was announced by Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.

A total of 3,260 two-component doses of the Sputnik V vaccine have been received by healthcare institutions in the region. Immunization of healthcare workers began on January 19 at seven vaccination points opened in Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and at four medical institutions in the regional center. Their number will be gradually expanded.

– Over the past period, more than 1,000 people at risk have been vaccinated. The most active participation in the immunization campaign is taken by employees of the Orsha Central City Polyclinic and its branches, as well as medical institutions in Vitebsk – the Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary, the Diagnostic Center, and other healthcare institutions. No serious side effects have been registered, – noted Vladimir Sinkevich.

The delivery of the next batch of vaccine intended for the immunization of education and social protection workers is expected in February.

Vladimir Sinkevich recalled that vaccination is one of the most significant tools in combating the spread of viral infections.

– At the same time, adherence to health-saving behaviour principles is also of great importance: maintaining social distancing, hygiene rules, physical activity, healthy eating, etc. All this helps to reduce the risks of virus transmission and remains an important element of health protection, – emphasized the chief physician.
