The harvest in the region is not yet complete. Approximately 10,000 hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops remain to be harvested in the public sector. Rain is hindering the work of combine harvesters. The total regional harvest across all farm categories currently stands at 1,008 thousand tonnes. Of this, 978 thousand tonnes of grain have been harvested in the public sector, while private farmsteads have yielded 22.7 thousand tonnes, and farmers have threshed 7.3 thousand tonnes of grain.
This year, the grain yield in the region is 4.4 centners per hectare higher than last year's figure, reaching 32.3 centners per hectare. During the 2017 harvest, the Vitebsk region saw its first combine harvester crew, the duo of grain growers from OJSC "Orshansky KHP", Sergey Grekov and Andrey Sushkevich, who threshed over 4,000 tonnes of grain.
The rapeseed harvest continues in the region, with 85.5% of the work completed, and potato digging has been carried out on 37% of the area.
