5 September, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Elections to the Council of the Republic will be held in the Vitebsk region on 25 September. This decision was made today at a joint meeting of the Presidium of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, according to a BELTA correspondent. From 27 to 29 August, joint meetings of the presidiums of district and city councils of deputies and district and city executive committees were held in the region, at which candidates for members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus from the Vitebsk region were nominated. Eight people were nominated as candidates: Nikolai Konevalov, Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Gosstroyexpertiza for the Vitebsk Region"; Alexander Kosinets, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee; Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee; Nikolai Martynov, Director of the Limited Liability Company "Marko"; Vladimir Plytkevich, Chief Physician of the Orsha Central Polyclinic; Alexander Solodkov, Rector of the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov; Anna Shareiko, Director of the Open Joint Stock Company "Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm"; and Petr Shershen, General Director of the Production Republican Unitary Enterprise "Vitebskoblgaz". The elections will be held by secret ballot on 25 September at a meeting of the basic-level councils of deputies. A total of 838 people are part of the deputy corps of the mentioned councils. The concert hall "Vitebsk" has been designated as the venue for the meeting. In addition, members of the Presidium of the Regional Council of Deputies, the Regional Executive Committee, heads of committees, departments, and divisions of the Regional Executive Committee, regional services and agencies, chairpersons of city and district services and agencies, city and district executive committees, heads of administrations of Vitebsk districts, and mass media representatives will be invited to the event. -0-
