The industrial complex of the Vitebsk region is focusing on high-tech products.

This was stated at a meeting of the regional executive committee, which discussed the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region for the first quarter of 2025 and improving the efficiency of organisations' operations.

In a conversation with journalists, the Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, noted that, considering the sufficiently high base for all parameters of the same period last year, the first quarter of 2025 was handled with dignity. Industrial production growth of 102.7% was ensured (excluding oil products due to the current market situation), and retail trade and public catering turnover, investments in fixed assets, and passenger and freight turnover were increased. The highest growth was observed in high-tech sectors – pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and others. All targets were met by the construction industry, including housing commissioning. The agricultural complex slightly missed some indicators. However, the lag will be eliminated by the end of May.

Currently, the Vitebsk region is one of the few regions meeting the export target to the Russian Federation. In general, by the end of the first half of the year, a foreign supply growth rate of 105% is planned.

94 enterprises are producing import-substituting products, and eleven are launching new projects.

Work within the framework of the "Regional Initiative" is actively underway: 4 projects have already been submitted, and another 15 are under consideration.

The meeting of the Regional Executive Committee analysed shortcomings and reserves that will help improve the efficiency of the Vitebsk region's economy.
