The progress in implementing the President's directive on improving the efficiency of the healthcare system and the plan for its implementation were discussed at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

– A significant amount of work has been done to fulfill the tasks of improving the healthcare system set by the head of state, – Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, noted in an interview with journalists. – Extensive work has been carried out to strengthen the material and technical base of structural units of healthcare facilities in rural areas – FAPs (Feldsher-Accoucheur Posts), and doctor's ambulatories – and it is still ongoing. The staffing situation remains relevant, and we are addressing this issue, including through career guidance work. This also includes retraining existing specialists and improving their qualifications so that they can provide qualified and timely assistance to the population. The material and technical problem also remains relevant today – the park of equipment and medical devices needs to be updated. A large shipment of ultrasound machines, endoscopic and other equipment is already planned for areas where it is particularly needed, to reduce waiting times and speed up population screening as much as possible. I think it will be installed in the first half of next year. This will significantly facilitate the work. In parallel, specialists are being trained in educational institutions to operate this equipment.

The head of the regional healthcare department also touched upon the topic of the reconstruction and renovation of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, which began this year and continues regardless of the season.
