7 September, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A mushroom picker in the Vitebsk district discovered a cache of ammunition from the Great Patriotic War, BELTA was informed by military unit 5524 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
In a forest near the village of Staroye Selo, the mushroom picker saw shells dug out of the ground. The man immediately reported his find to the police. A demining team from military unit 5524 was dispatched to the scene. In a crater left from the Great Patriotic War, its personnel discovered 126 artillery shells, and a few metres away, another 7 mortar mines.
All ammunition was removed to a safe place and destroyed.-0-
