Today, an oblast tourist rally with a competition programme for students, involving over 200 boys and girls, is starting in Vitebsk district.

Svetlana Shornikova, Head of the Tourism and Sports Orienteering Sector of the Department of Tourism and Local Lore of the Vitebsk Oblast Palace of Children and Youth, informed a BELTA correspondent about this.

The tourist rally will be held from 25 to 27 May in the village of Malye Lettsy on Lake Shevino. "Teams of students from districts and cities of Vitebsk Oblast will participate in the competitions in two age groups. The middle group includes participants born in 2007-2009, and the senior group - in 2003-2006. A total of 12 teams, comprising over 200 people, will be at the rally. The event programme is intensive and will last for three days," said Svetlana Shornikova.

The participants will have to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in various disciplines, as well as show endurance, strength, and team spirit. They will compete in cycle orienteering and a two-stage relay race. The tourist rally participants will cover a short distance in hiking techniques. They will also need to cope with an obstacle course, which includes trial elements, in cycling tourism techniques. Water competitions will also be held. In addition, a creative programme awaits the young tourists: they will need to present a creative profile of their team, participate in a local lore competition, present and defend the newspaper "Rally Days", and also demonstrate their tourist skills of everyday self-sufficiency in nature.

The participants will fully experience the romance of tourist trips, when one can merge with nature and test their strength, and at sunset, sitting by the campfire, sing songs with friends to the guitar.
