Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 8 hosted the "Safety is..." preventive campaign in an engaging, game-based format. The first-graders were the stars of the day. Many of them do not yet know how to turn on a gas stove, so knowledge about safety when working with gas equipment is timely and necessary for them. Moreover, this knowledge is acquired through quests and games and rewarded with sweet prizes.
Ksyusha Belousova, a student of class 1 "A", was one of the first to complete all the quest tasks and shared her impressions of the interesting challenges:
– The most difficult part for me was the competition where I had to find a hose and a toy car, and the easiest was to determine where the gas smell was coming from. I enjoyed everything very much.
For the event to be a success, its organisers – UP "Vitebskoblgaz" and the branch of Gosenergonadzor for the Vitebsk region – had to work hard. Such a campaign is being held in the republic for the first time and is aimed at preventing the unsafe use of electrical and heating installations, as well as gas equipment, in anticipation of the autumn-winter period.
– We have a roadmap for cooperation signed with Gymnasium No. 8, – said Svetlana Volkova, Deputy General Director for Ideological Work and Social Issues of UP "Vitebskoblgaz". – We have engineering classes, and this is not our first visit here, and older students have visited the enterprise.
Now we have decided to get ahead of the first-graders. They need not only to be told about safety but also shown and involved in games. Our employees are playing with them, not hired actors. Everything we present are developments of "Vitebskoblgaz".
– Currently, the Ministry of Energy is conducting the "Safety is..." campaign, and all organisations that are part of the Ministry of Energy have joined it, – noted Andrey Vasylevsky, Director of the branch of Gosenergonadzor for the Vitebsk region. – We must tell children about the dangers that may await them when using electrical, heating, and gas appliances.
The first-graders had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the technologies of the future. Specialists from the "ITGaz" production department at UP "Vitebskoblgaz" transported the children into a virtual world, demonstrated a robot dog, and other modern developments that make gas use even safer and more efficient.
Children prepared for this event in advance. For a month, they drew a safe home and held contests within their classes. As a result, 16 best works were selected and became winners.
After the interactive program, the children were treated to a performance with full-size puppets, conceived and staged by the enterprise's employees. Not a single child left the celebration without a gift and in a good mood.
