The spring conscription campaign has commenced in the Vitebsk region. Today, approximately 100 individuals departed from Victory Square in the regional centre. They are set to serve in the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade.
In his farewell address to the recruits, the Military Commissar of the Vitebsk region, Colonel Sergey Kunakhovets, noted that the new conscripts would be serving in a renowned unit, which is the pride of our region.
– Military service is by definition not easy, and one must be prepared for this. However, after completing your service, you will gain reliable and loyal friends, – assured the military commissar. – You are heading to the army from a symbolic location in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory over the fascist invaders. The memory of this day will last a lifetime. Perform your duties with honour and dignity.
The Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Vyacheslav Durnov, reminded that the army serves as a guarantee of national security and the stable development of the country:
– You are tasked with keeping your powder dry. A great responsibility rests upon you – to defend our Motherland, – emphasised Vyacheslav Durnov. – I am confident that you will honestly fulfil your civic duty, and army service will become a good start in your life journey.
On behalf of the parents, Irina Khoteikina spoke, wishing the young men strong army friendships and reminding them that their families and loved ones are proud of them and await their return home. Incidentally, Irina Khoteikina's son, Ilya Simporokhov, trained as a forester at the Vitebsk Technological College, joined the army with great enthusiasm, and plans to continue his service under contract.
