To ensure road safety during the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate will pay increased attention to the suppression of gross violations of traffic regulations by both drivers and pedestrians.
In the operations on the most accident-prone sections of roads in the Brest, Gomel, and Minsk regions, units of the special traffic police unit "Strela" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved. Special attention is paid to identifying drunk drivers and those driving without a license, the presence and condition of winter tires, compliance with speed limits, rules for passing intersections, and entering the oncoming traffic lane.Precipitation combined with temperature fluctuations and, as a consequence, icy conditions, adversely affect the road situation. Moreover, in conditions of poor visibility, the risk of pedestrian injuries sharply increases. Drivers need to exercise increased caution when passing intersections and driving on highways near populated areas, observe speed limits and maneuvering rules.
The use of high-visibility clothing and reflective elements plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of vulnerable road users, especially in twilight and darkness. It is important to cross the roadway only in designated areas, with reasonable caution, ensuring that drivers see you and have time to stop.
