Vaccination defeats the epidemic

The COVID-19 infection pandemic, which began in 2019, has had a significant impact on health and many areas of human activity.

The COVID-19 infection pandemic, which began in 2019, has had a significant impact on health and many areas of human activity. From the very beginning of this new infection, medicine faced the challenge of finding ways to prevent this disease. And the most reliable method is vaccination. Having previously encountered the flu epidemic and its complications, mass vaccination against influenza has been carried out annually in the Republic of Belarus for over 10 years. It has proven its effectiveness and safety. Thanks to the fact that 40% of the population receives the vaccine every year, flu cases are not registered.

To date, the vaccination against COVID-19, started in February 2021, has significantly contributed to the reduction in the incidence of this infection. More than 70% of the population has received the primary vaccination. However, we cannot stop there. To achieve stabilization of the epidemiological situation, a supporting, so-called "booster" dose of the vaccine must be received every six months.

Currently, the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 infection continues, which is carried out in conjunction with influenza vaccination. The available vaccines: the Russian drug "Sputnik V", and the "Sinopharm" drug, produced by the People's Republic of China, have been used for over a year and have no serious side effects. They can be administered together with the influenza vaccine. As of November 15, 37% of the population has been vaccinated against influenza, 66% of those vaccinated against COVID-19 have received the first "booster" dose of the drug, and 8.5% have received the second "booster" dose. In addition, more than 800 children have been vaccinated.

Living in a calm epidemiological situation, some people begin to regard vaccination as "useless", but this is a misconception that can have extremely adverse consequences. The World Health Organization, based on many years of scientific research, recommends continuing vaccination as the only reliable way to be saved from infection and its complications.
