17 June, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. There will be no currency in exchange offices for now. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today at a press conference for central and regional Belarusian media, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"If you want to ask me if there will be currency in exchange offices - there won't be for now. Or maybe there will be, if someone brings it. But the state will not play this game until July 1 at least. Do you know why? Because many people want to buy cars. The hype did not subside. They will buy up this currency, $2 billion will go down the drain. I will not agree to this," the President said.
"We are proceeding calmly, and we will continue to do so. And then - we will speed up. But this will be in July. This, if you like, is the truth. I simply cannot and do not have the right to tell you more. Not because I'm being secretive. Because we need to choose a more accurate course, or a way out of the swamp we have fallen into," Alexander Lukashenko noted. -0-
