The gross grain harvest in the farms of the Vitebsk region amounted to almost 1.1 million tons.

26 September, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The grain harvest in the farms of the Vitebsk region amounted to almost 1.1 million tonnes. The best agricultural workers of the Vitebsk region, who made a significant contribution to the overall harvest, will travel today to the republican festival-fair "Dazhynki-2013" in Zhlobin. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the regional executive committee.
Participants of the republican festival-fair will include combine operators, drivers, grain drying complex operators, chief agronomists and engineers, farmers, and heads of agricultural enterprises and districts of the region. The delegation will be led by the Governor of the region, Alexander Kosinets.

As emphasized at the regional executive committee, the main objective of the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region in 2013 is to increase the efficiency of agricultural production. Currently, optimization of agricultural organizations is underway, which will allow concentrating the main production of products in the future at 170 large agricultural enterprises, each of which will have at least 7 thousand hectares of arable land. Over the past four years, agricultural producers have received 10.8 thousand units of equipment worth over Br2.5 trillion, including 1,372 tractors (of which 730 are high-powered), 1,389 grain harvesting and 395 forage harvesting combines, and other machinery. 91 modern high-performance grain cleaning and drying complexes are operational in the region's organizations, and 5 lines for grain processing are in operation to produce quality seeds.

Following the results of the 2013 harvest campaign, 169 combine crews threshed one thousand tonnes or more of grain. Mykola Zakharenko and Siarhei Katkouski from SPC "Larynivka" of Orsha District threshed over 2 thousand tonnes of grain. Five crews threshed over 1.5 thousand tonnes. These include two crews from agricultural enterprise "Olgovskoye" of Vitebsk District – Siarhei Voronau and Aliaksandr Zavodny, Leanid Paramonau and Pavel Minin; crews from OJSC "Torguny" of Dokshytsy District – Aliaksei Voronkaŭ and Ilia Esipenka, Uladzimir Anikovich; and a crew from OJSC "Prudinki" of Verkhnedzvinsk District – Aliaksandr Barstok and Dzmitry Pankrat. Young people are performing well in the grain harvest (21 out of 169 thousand-tonne crews are youth crews).
Drivers from Dubrovno, Verkhnedzvinsk, Orsha, Vitebsk, and Hlybokaye Districts are leaders in grain haulage. Drivers Aliaksandr Batyan (OJSC "Yakubovo-Agro" of Dubrovno District) and Aleh Zhukouski (OJSC "Prudinki" of Verkhnedzvinsk District) transported almost 3.4 thousand tonnes using MAZ-555 vehicles.
The Republican festival-fair "Dazhynki-2013" will be held in Zhlobin on 27-28 September. Traditionally, the winners of republican competitions for achieving high performance in the harvest of grain and leguminous crops, haylage production, flax cultivation, and livestock production, as well as republican reviews and contests in agriculture, will be honoured at the celebration.-0-
