Near the village of Vishni, Liozno district, the remains of 15 soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War have been reburied.

A memorial service and solemn reburial of the remains of 15 Red Army servicemen who died during the Great Patriotic War took place near the village of Vishni, Liozno District. 

The remains of the soldiers and accompanying items of equipment and ammunition were discovered during search operations in the territory of Babinovichsky Rural Council by the 52nd Specialized Search Battalion of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, in conjunction with members of search associations. Unfortunately, it was not possible to establish the names of the soldiers.

To honour the memory of the fallen, representatives of regional and district authorities, searchers, representatives of public associations, enterprises, schoolchildren, and local residents gathered at the military burial site No. 4359.

– For over 80 years, our country has lived under a peaceful, clear sky. But every generation of Belarusians remembers and will always remember the price at which we gained peace and the Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. This involved millions of young lives of soldiers who bravely stood up to defend the Motherland. From generation to generation, the historical truth about the horrors brought to our people by the fascist occupation is passed down. How much suffering, grief, tears, and blood were shed on our land! And the feat of the Soviet soldiers, the Red Army men, is all the more magnificent, – noted Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies. – Today, we are reburying the remains of 15 Red Army soldiers who fought for our freedom and lives here, in the territory of Liozno District. Young men spared no effort for the sake of victory over the cursed enemy, for the sake of enabling us to live, raise children, and bring them up in a free and independent country. The preservation of historical memory and the work to perpetuate the memory of heroes is one of the key foundations of our country's state policy. We must continue the work of searching for remains and establishing the names of the fallen. Unfortunately, we do not know who these 15 Red Army soldiers were, what their names were, or where they were conscripted from. But we know for sure that they fulfilled their duty to the end, fought and died with honour, doing everything to bring the long-awaited Victory closer. Today, they are returning from battle and finding their final rest in a common grave. And the work to search for unknown heroes and perpetuate their memory will continue.
