“Our Children” is the main charitable event of the winter, the grand opening of which took place at the Vitebsk Concert Hall. This year, the large-scale New Year's campaign is held under the motto “Academy of Good Deeds”.
The grand opening of the campaign was a bright interactive celebration. In a live broadcast, via a teleconference, the regional leadership and children took part in the republican launch.
As noted by Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a large number of events are planned in each district of the region so that no child is left without attention. Thanks to the participation of adults, the campaign turns into a month of kindness.
Preparations for the opening were very serious and took a lot of time. Olesya Tishkevich, mother of a vocalist, said that her daughter had been rehearsing her performance for 3 hours for the last ten days.
– For my daughter, this is not just a creative hobby. She prepared for this event with all responsibility, because we have a child with a disability in our family, and we know how important such campaigns are, – noted Olesya Tishkevich.
At the grand opening of the campaign, Olga Lapochkina plays the role of Winter. She prepared for it with special trepidation: a mother of many children knows firsthand how little ones believe in fairy tales and wait for this particular time of year because of the New Year's magic.
– I have had many roles in my practice, but the image of Winter is new for me. I wanted to make the costume more refined. So that I wouldn't look like a stern Snow Queen, I decided to add a long white braid, – shared Olga Lapochkina, an additional education teacher at the Regional Palace of Children and Youth.
Maria Atrashimovich, a young participant in the event, was helped by her mother to get ready for the holiday: from the very morning they did her hair and makeup, and rehearsed her lines, because this day marks the little girl's debut on a republican stage.
“Our Children” is not only a holiday with gifts and matinees, but also a profound social program. This year, all regions of the country are writing their volumes of the magical book “Academy of Good Deeds”. On its pages, every child can leave their most cherished dreams and wishes, which will surely come true through the efforts of caring people, meaning the charitable campaign turns into a real academy of kindness and mutual assistance. The volume of the book for the northern region bears the symbolic title “Vitebsk Inspiration Guide”.
The "Our Children" campaign will run until January 14, 2026. It will help to unite the efforts of the state and caring citizens for the sake of future generations.
